As Christians we have a responsibility:

‘To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with our God’.
 Micah 6.8

God has made us stewards of his whole creation and we believe that this places significant responsibilities on us.  We tend to refer to this as ‘stewardship’. Christian stewardship is about:

  • how we live as Christian disciples
  • how we manage all the world’s resources
  • how we use all that God has given to us as individuals

As a church we do not receive any subsidies or financing from central church or the government.  In fact we contribute a significant amount every month to the operations of our Diocese and the national church and are entirely responsible for the upkeep of our historic building.

We finance this and our local commitments through the generous giving of individual members who recognise that:

‘Everything comes from you, God; all we’re doing is giving back what we’ve been given from your generous hand.’  1 Chronicles 29. 14

We all have very differing financial circumstances but what we do have in common is God’s generosity to us.  So we ask regular members of our congregations to set up a standing order to contribute on a regular basis whether they are in church or not.

If you would like to start giving to St Matthew’s regularly then the best way for the church is via Standing Order through your Bank.  Here are our Bank details:

Bank:  Sort Code: 20-46-73
Account Name:  Surbiton St Matthew PCC
Account Number:  50793698

Alternatively if you would like to make a one-off donation click on the button below.

Also let St Matthew’s recover tax paid through filling out a Gift Aid form (if you haven’t already and provided you are a UK tax payer).  This will allow recovery of 25p for each £ we give, at no cost to you!

THANK YOU!
